DUNDEE ATTRACTIONS - What to See & Do
One of Dundee’s main tourist attractions is Captain Scott's Antarctic expedition ship the R.R.S. Discovery, which was built in Dundee and is now berthed on the bank of the river Tay, alongside the Discovery Point Visitor Centre (which also focuses on polar climate issues).
Another ship to visit nearby is HM Frigate Unicorn - a 46-gun wooden warship.
Children may also enjoy a trip to the Dundee’s Sensation Science Centre.
Dundee’s pedestrianized shopping street offers plenty of places for you to spend your money. Have a lookout for the Desperate Dan Statue while you’re there (he’s a famous Scottish comic book character if you didn’t know already).
Worthwhile day-trips from Dundee include St Andrews, the home of Golf (just 30 minutes away). Whiskey fans will enjoy a trip to The Famous Grouse Experience at Crieff while history-buffs should head to Scone Palace near Perth, where Scottish Kings were crowned in days gone past.
It is also easy to visit Aberdeen, Stirling, Glasgow and Edinburgh from Dundee - so you could say it makes for a great base in central Scotland.
